This is what happens when you try to help someone with what they want...
Thanks for appointing yourself internet policeman, cousin.

Koch,
I'm not trying to be internet policeman. But really, you know downloading SBDs from the archive is a no-no per the band's wishes. Maybe you were (maybe you weren't)around a few years ago when all of the boards were pulled. We had to fight to get them back in a stream only fashion. This is a valuable resource for alot of folks. None of us want to lose the ability to listen to just about any show they ever played. Based on what happened in the past, we all know that is what could happen at any time for any reason.
Why give them a reason??
I won't speak for all here, but I think most agree with me...but for me personally...
It pisses me off when someone blatently and openly spits in the band's face and says here, let me show you how to scam the system. Especially for someone who has access to and knows that there are plenty of other means for obtaining these shows that are more on the up and up as it were. You know full well that there are other means for being able to download the boards. Why do you insist on encouraging and even helping people to work around the system here on archive???? Do you not realize that every time that happens we are just providing an excuse for them to take the music away entirely as is their right to do???
Or do you just not care?? And as has been denonstrated in the past, IT IS their right to deny access if they wish.

We all want to help others to share in this great music.
Just go about it in the right way, so what we still have is not jeopardized further.

I'm with you Finster - no reason to give anybody any reason to pull what we got for streaming.

There are PLENTY of high quality AUD's out there free for DL.

I'm not going to argue over this. There are many schools of thought, many are right in their aspects.
If someone asks for help, I will help them, as I was once helped. End of story.

You are right Koch...
People are gonna do what people are gonna do.
You can try to enlighten people but you can't change 'em.
Just know that by encouraging and even helping people scam the system, you jeopardize it for everyone...yourself included.

Don't cry too loud when the music gets pulled because of shit like this....

I had no idea this would set off such a contentious debate. I wholeheartedly understand where you are coming from. There was no intention on my part of "scamming the system", or "spitting in the face of the band". Far from it, this is a gift. I simply was looking at old shows and seeing that they were downloaded 22,303 times or whatever, and wondering if I was missing something. That's all, no more no lesh.

The download counter is a little strange - it also counts 'streaming' - many moons ago SBD could be DL'd

There are plenty of real good AUDs to DL

check out 3/9/81, 5/1/81, 3/13/81 most stuff by Jim Wise or Barry Glassberg are pertty darn good.

Cowboy....
My anger was not directed at you. It was directed at Kochman. There are plenty of alternative places to download the SBDs other than a "backdoor" here at archive. He is fully aware of these alternatives and should have steered you in that direction. The archive is a very valuable asset to ALOT of people. Most here don't take kindly to anyone or anything that could jeopardize the resource. Kochman is well aware of this also, yet he continues to do it.

As for downloading....as JGlynn mentioned, there are plenty of good auds that can be downloaded here. Take note of any reccomendation he might make. He knows of what he speaks.....or poke around on your own. Sometimes half the fun is discovering a little known or reviewed gem that you can then share with the rest of the board.

As for downloading SBDs.... Google Bittorrent and do a little research. Most shows here on the archive can be found on one torrent site or another. Downloading from these sites is relatively simple once you get the hang of it. If you need help from there..post again!! Most here are more than willing to help you to get and share the music.

Finster Baby, my issue is, I think you think you know what other people know... and you don't.
If you examine the situation properly, you will know the truth.

Or, just continue your witchcraft trials. By all means, if it makes you feel better to be so holier than me, I am glad I could help. You aren't the first judgmental guy I have come across, probably won't be the last.

i can't read minds, but anyone pointing a way (from any forum)to capturing streams from the archive.org needs to learn respect for the bands and brewsters wishes.

There is plenty to be had at LL, dimeadozen and bt.etree torrent sites. But not here, please? Btw, I'd say the same at any forum

Besides, capturing a SB stream = low mp3 quality & polluting what should be flac or shn source
